There are quite a few simple and effective methods you can use to increase your poker winnings when you’re playing on Poker Star and today we’re going to look at some of those with you. It’s not as simple as sitting down at the poker table with some money and winning some hands anymore, and this is because the players are much tougher nowadays. In order to win consistently in poker and to maximize your profits you need to do all of the little things which make a good player great.
* Most poker player’s play way to loose and like the action, but this isn’t how to maximize your winnings in poker. You need to be patient and tight while playing and let the hands come to you, if you start trying to rush things and playing marginal hands you’re only asking for trouble.
* Limit the amount of draws that you chase when you’re sitting down at the table. Far to many players will win a hand with a flush and then chase the next five flush draws they have and be sitting at even wondering what happened to there profit. The problem with chasing every draw is that you’re not going to hit every draw so you need to pick and choose your spots.
* Ideally you should spend some time looking for the right PokerStars table when you sign-in to your online poker room. Most poker rooms will post the flop percentage and how much the average pot has been. You can use these stats in order to determine where the loose players are playing and then sit down with them. If you only play your premium hands you shouldn’t get in trouble with loose players and they are much more likely to payoff your made hands during your session.
* Most US poker rooms allow you to take notes of your opposition. This will allow you to write information about whether a player is loose/tight/aggressive/ and other things like will they call an all-in and such questions like that. It’s important that if you plan on playing a session for a couple hours or more you take notes to make your job easier.
* Try not to have any distractions when you sit down to play poker because with distractions you’ll often play in hands you shouldn’t and chase hands you shouldn’t. Each of those mistakes will cost you money and you don’t need to be wasting any money due to distractions. Finish up everything you need to do and then you’ll be able to sit down and concentrate on your poker game.
* Once you have profit from your session and it’s been awhile that you’ve been playing you need to start thinking about when to leave. A lot of players will never leave until they hit a certain profit point and often they will begin losing before they hit this point and lose any profit they had. A good player will walk away from the poker table will little profit if they know that it just isn’t there day.
